Design, digital and aftercare & support

Industrial Dwellings Society

Established in 1885 by a group of Jewish philanthropists who hoped to relieve the overcrowding in homes in the East End of London, today the Industrial Dwellings Society (IDS) own and manage around 1,500 properties in Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Camden, Haringey, Redbridge, Barnet and Hertsmere.

Our ongoing collaboration with IDS

We have been working with the Industrial Dwellings Society for a number of years to deliver a variety of design and digital projects. Together, we have redefined their brand identity, creating a visual and strategic foundation that reflects their rich heritage and forward-looking mission.

Delivering consistent branded elements

Over time, the fresh identity has seamlessly extended into impactful estate campaign designs, thoughtfully crafted annual reports as IDS have continued to grow. Along the way, we have made sure that our graphic communication reflects IDS’s dedication to community and excellence.

Delivering a new website

The culmination of our collaborative efforts is the launch of their newly designed website. Built to be user-friendly, visually engaging, and true to IDS’s values, the website represents a digital home as welcoming and effective as the communities they serve.

Our journey to delivering a new website began with a kick off meeting with IDS in order to outline the key delivery stages, from research to information analysis and sitemap creation, to design and development and launch.

The approach to research

Our research report included a range of sources including primary research in the form of resident interviews and online surveys, as well as secondary research in the form of competitor analysis and Google Analytic analysis.

This exercise helped us understand the areas of improvement to reach further engagement, including a re-organised sitemap structure in the form of a mega menu, giving residents a better overview of site-wide content in less time.

Design and development

The core brand colours and accompanying tints that were established during our brand identity project were retained and were well considered throughout the site. Care and attention was considered to make sure colour contrast satisfied WCAG AA requirements.

Once the build was complete, we conducted thorough Q&A testing and migrated the remaining content on the website before launching.

Aftercare & support

We believe in building lasting relationships, which is why we provide ongoing aftercare and support to ensure the website remains effective, accessible, and aligned with IDS’s evolving needs.

Our support includes regular updates to maintain security and functionality, as well as monitoring site performance to ensure everything runs smoothly. We’re also on hand to address any technical issues and provide guidance on content updates, ensuring that IDS can continue to communicate effectively with their community.

As IDS grows and their needs change, we’re committed to evolving the website alongside them, providing tailored solutions that reflect their mission and enhance their ability to serve their residents. This collaborative approach ensures that the website remains a dynamic and valuable tool for years to come.
