Ramsgate Royal Harbour is the only Royal Harbour in the UK, granted by George IV in 1821. It is a working harbour with a stunning collection of sailing boats and a marina that offers visitors and berth holders excellent facilities and customer care.
Developed when the Thanet District Council sought funding to level up the area, they approached us to create a new site to replace the existing Port of Ramsgate website that provided immediate solutions for their customer and administrative team’s needs and a potential shift to a more commercial outlook.
We worked with the Thanet District Council on the new Ramsgate Royal Harbour site, dedicated to showcasing the beauty and history of Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour.
Our end-to-end process involved collaborating closely with the Thanet District Council and the Port of Ramsgate teams to ensure that the website layout and structure are accessible and fulfil both frontend and backend operational user journeys based on the end-user research we conducted.
Communication with the stakeholder team required careful management. Many variables and ongoing council-related conversations could have affected the final output, so we adopted an agile approach for this delivery.
The final website UX and UI design output allows easy navigation for all users, predominantly harbour residents and marine visitors, to quickly find helpful information about the harbour and its surroundings, such as events, attractions, directions, services and berthing details.
The website is already bringing about positive changes by making existing harbour residents’ lives easier. We hope to inspire people to discover more about Ramsgate Royal Harbour and attract more tourism to the area.
